HBM Reviews: Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion (3DS)

This should be awesome... right...?

It's about time I got my ass in gear to review this...

Okay, so this is one of the first games I got for my 3DS... which seriously needs more games. Seriously Square, hurry the fuck up and release KH3D and Theatrythtm: Final Fantasy*! Well... here goes.

When this is one of the most logical screenshots in the
game, you know something's wrong.
Okay, the plot is pretty much an excuse for a story, but it works. It's some narrator's day off so he's watching various Cartoon Network shows (which are on different channels for some reason...?) and they''re all fusing into each other with the villains working with the villains and the heroes trying to restore balance. It's all good and the end boss will surprise you. I guarantee it (unless you're the type of asshole who likes to spoil things for yourself online...)

The first character to unlock in Vs. mode.
There are all kinds of characters from all throughout CN history (including a certain someone from BEFORE CN!!)! Not giving that spoiler away, there's Ben and Vilgax from Ben 10 (unfortunately, in Ultimate Alien forms...), Chowder w/Kimchi from Chowder, Blossom, Bubbles, Buttercup, and Mojo Jojo from The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter and Monkey from Dexter's Lab, Flapjack and K'nuckles from Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Numbuh One and Father from Codename Kids Next Door, Mac & Bloo from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Billy & Mandy and Grim from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, and Samurai Jack. See the one problem here? NOT ENOUGH VILLAINS!!! However, this could be considered a demo for the console versions, and there are plenty of Assist characters, so it can somewhat slide...

This game is a Smash Bros. clone, so I don't need to explain much, just the Punch Time Explosion(PTE) system. Whenever you attack enemies, they drop little cubes. If you pick them up, your PTE gauge fills. When it's full, you can tap it to activate you PTE, which will probably murder and enemy or 9.

Also, in the story mode, there are some random gameplay changes, like a slingshot thing and a Galaga-like mode. They're okay, but not partucularly good.

I don't even want to know...
You can barely hear the games music... ever. This is because a: It's too staticy, 2: it's too muted, and III: the fight noises usually conceal it. What you can hear is simply... okay. They betetr fix this in the console versions...

These are nonexistant.

This really is a good game and all, but it gets BORING after a while. you'll have literally EVERYTHING in less than a day if you're dedicated to it and then... that's it. It'll become a game you play occasionally for shits and giggles.

Rating: 5.7/10**

Yeah, so see you whenever I get Bleach: Soul Resurreccion and beat it (DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD...). HBM: Logging Out.
* Yeah, I know Nomura said that they're about 50% done and doing voice recording but that's IN JAPAN, not here IN AMERICA. Seriosuly, KH is my favorite game series, I've beaten all the others at least 5 times each, and I can't import seeing as I'm too lazy to do any chores, so...yeah.

**: Yeah, the overall rating is now going to be based on the other ratings. I'm gonig to edit my other reviews to show this.
