Nintendo Direct 12/18/2013: My Thoughts

So there was a Nintendo Direct today. And it had so much info that I felt I had to share my thoughts on all that was shared. So here I go.

Super Smash Bros Newcomer: Rosalina Blasts In!

So there was a Nintendo Direct today, and in the video, among other awesomeness, we finally got another Smash Bros newcomer: Rosalina from Super Mario Galaxy!

From the looks of the video, she fights by redirecting attacks and summoning her Luma to help attack enemies. Overall, I'm pretty excited to see what Rosalina can do, and I'm pretty damn thankful that they finally revealed another newcomer! I'll post about my thoughts on the Nintendo Direct later today.

HBM's Top Ten Swords in Video Games

Swords have been around for longer than a bunch of other modern weapons, that's for sure. They're also used a lot in video games. And I'm counting down my ten favorite of them in video games. My only rules here are that they have to be from games I've played, and I'm basing this list on the sword's appearance and the abilities it grants.

MASK DEMASCULINE IS THE GREATEST CHARACTER EVER

BOW DOWN TO HIS GLORY
So, the newest chapter of Bleach was posted today, and it just might be the most amazing thing that's happened in Bleach in a while. You know that luchadore-Quincy, Mask DeMasculine? Apparently, he recently beat the everloving shit out of a bunch of lieutenants, and since he's a luchadore, he has this random little announcer guy named James following him around. Clearly, he is the greatest character since Ulquiorra.

Anyway, it turns out his power is that when anyone cheers him on, he gains a large power boost, allowing him to crush just about anyone. Which is why James constantly follows him around. So, after taking a pummeling from Kensei in the newest chapter, James cheers Mask on, and he makes a comeback. Clearly, this will be a victory for the forces of Mustache.

Mask DeMasculine is now the greatest character to ever be concieved. Also, MaskXJames is OTP. No exceptions.

Okay, obviously I'm joking around, but seriously, Mask DeMasculine is my favorite Vandenreich now. No, Uryu doesn't count.

HBM's Top Ten PS3 Games

The PS4 is coming out at the end of the week, but it's still going to be a while until the PS3 croaks. Even so, I think it's time to list what I feel are the 10 best games on the system. Of course, no HD remakes, collections, etc.

HBM Reviews: Sonic Lost World

Rise against the Deadly Six!
So hey. Another Sonic game has come out once again. And considering that the Sonic series has been on something of a winning streak ever since Colors, you can bet your ass I was excited for this one. But was this one worth the hype? Let's find out.

HBM Reviews: Batman: Arkham Origins

"Your enemies will define you"
You guys remember Batman: Arkham Asylum? Yeah, that game is great. But it's sequel, Arkham City, is even better. But what about the new prequel? Let's find out just how good Arkham Origins really is...

HBM's Top Ten Video Game Theme Songs

So, you know how video games have music? I like that. And some video games have really good music. Some of these games have awesome theme songs. And I'm giving the top ten best of those right here.

Kingdom Hearts II.5 HD ReMix Announced!

So, you know how Kingdom Hearts I.5 HD ReMix came out in America last month? And how Square was constantly teasing at the possibility of a II.5 HD ReMix? Well, it's a thing now.

So yeah, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Birth By Sleep Final Mix are finally coming to America, and they're doing the HD cutscene thing again with Re:coded. Square, you're making it hard to decide whether to love you or hate you lately, but this is definitely a point in your favor. Kingdom Hearts II.5 HD ReMix will be out sometime next year, worldwide.

HBM's Top Ten Biggest Mistakes Square Enix Has Made

Hey guys. You remember Square Enix? Yeah, they made some awesome games back in the day. However, Square's glory days have been over for years. For quite some time, they've been bending us all over and raping us up the ass with their terrible ideas, horrendous games, and suicidal business practices. And I'm going to list the Top Ten of those here!

HBM Reviews: The Wonderful 101

"I knew we forgot someone... you."
Alrighty, time to get this blog back on track! Sorry this is late, but check my last post for details.

So, I like games, and I have a Wii U. But there haven't been much games that have made it a must-have. That is, until September 15th, when The Wonderful 101 was released!* And yes, the game is, in fact, wonderful.

10/01/2013

I'm Back! Also, some news...

Hey ho, I have a laptop again! And it only took 2-3 weeks longer than normal! Thanks, school, for briefly removing your head from it's natural habitat; your ass!

So anyway, I'm doing that Wonderful 101 review tomorrow. Yes, it's late, but my home computer is a piece of shit, and the Wii U is insufficient for my blogging needs. :P

Also, I'm just done with Bleach Recaps. I haven't watched it since the end of the Deicide Arc, and I've decided to skip the Reigai arc because I heard it's the most horrendous one. Maybe I'll restart the recaps when the Fullbring Arc starts, but I'm not sure. Anyway, in a few months or so, I'll do another post about the manga.

Oh, and in my absence, Peach and Toon Link were revealed for Smash Bros.

Also, expect a shitload of Top Tens. Just saying.

So, yeah. I'm back, but I'm not sure if this time it'll be permanent. I would like to be more consistent with my posting. We'll see...

EDIT: Sonic is returning to Smash Bros! MARIO VS SONIC VS MEGAMAN IS NOW A REALITY!

HBM's Top 10 Worst Video Game Characters

Oh hey, I'm posting. But it's just because I'm in New York at the moment. I still won't be able to post regularly again until I get my school laptop back.

Anyway, there are so many hated characters in video games. And I'm counting down the Top Ten of what I feel to be these in video games. Like always, only games I've played. Also, possible spoilers for quite a few games, and this list is always subject to change.

8/07/2013

Update 'n' Shit

So, I can't update much right now thanks to my computer being a horrible piece of shit. Got some games, but it's not like you care. Bleach is being real legit, but soon there's gonna be another shitty ass filler arc. Also, within the next few months, I'll be starting something on Youtube, and I'll post an announcement for that when it happens.
HBM, signing out.

EDIT: In today's Nintendo Direct, Luigi was revealed a bit early. This may mean he might be a starter character and/or hsve new moves!

7/30/2013

Bleach Update + Hell Verse

So yeah, here's that summary of the Bleach episodes other than the filler that I promised a while back. Basically, Aize n turned into a condom, destroyed Urahara, Isshin, and Yoruichi, grew a mullet, and went to real Karakura Town with Gin. Isshin had Ichigo learn the Final Getsuga, Aizen trolled Ichigo's friends, Gin betrayed Aizen, Aizen turned into a butterfly and killed Gin, and Ichigo owned Aizen. That's basically it.

Also, I got Hell Verse. It's the best Bleach movie so far. See you next month, when the recap is on time.

HBM's Top Ten Must-Have Super Smash Bros. Newcomers

Hey guys. I don't know about you, but I was fairly disappointed with today's Nintendo Direct. I mean, other than the info on Wonderful 101, and Earthbound finally being released on Virtual Console, there wasn't anything new, and worst of all, no new Smash Bros. info! I was at least expecting a newcomer, or a veteran that people actually give half a damn about (looking at you, Olimar).

Anyway, I got to thinking about which Nintendo characters are most likely to make the cut, and I decided to put the Top Ten of the newcomers I wanted the most onto here. Seriously, if at least half the characters on this list don't make it in, I'll be seriously pissed. Hell, just the first 3 or 4 need to be in!

Now, it has to be characters from a series that was made by Nintendo, or one of their subsidiaries, so no 3rd-party characters like Simon Belmont. Also, if any of these characters get confirmed, I'll add that as a note next to their name and change the picture to their Smash Bros art. Alrighty, let's get to it.

7/12/2013

Little update + A Veteran Revealed

So hey guys. I'm back from NY, but haven't been feeling up to doing the recap. Sorry. I also didn't watch the recent filler episodes, so there's no way I can review them.

Anyways, I finally beat Project X Zone. I think I may need to start a Top Ten Hardest Final Levels just so I can put that one at #1. Also, I got Gods Eater Burst thanks to PXZ, and it's so good, I had to update my Top Ten PSP Games.

Oh yeah, and Olimar was revealed to be returning for Smash Bros.

*crickets chirping*
So yeah, HBM signing out.

HBM Reviews: Project X Zone

Hey guys. Sorry I'm late with this, but I'm still in New York doing stuff. But now it's time to review Project X Zone.

HBM Reviews: Deadpool

"This is what AWESOME looks like!"
Hey guys, I'm still in New York, but I'm still able to use the internet, so what better time to review the recent Deadpool game? Also, like always, I'm using the PS3 control scheme because I still don't have an XBox 360. Bleh.

6/24/2013

10000 Page Views! + Hiatus

Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been updating. It's just that school's over, and I don't have much to post about. So apparently, I hit 10,000 page views a little while ago. WOO HOO!

Also, I'm going on vacation to New York from this Friday to July 8, so this month's Bleach recap will be a little late. My reviews should still be on time though.

Super Smash Bros Newcomer: Wii Fit Trainer Measures Up

So, Super Smash Bros. 4 was officially announced yesterday at E3, to the excitement of everyone with at least one functioning brain cell. Shortly after that, at Nintendo's special "hands-on" introduction to their new games, Masahiro Sakurai himself showed up to reveal a third newcomer to the Smash Bros. series. This newcomer is somebody nobody could have seen coming (the Nintendo reps even acknowledged this): the Wii Fit Trainer.

So... yeah. I know I didn't expect her. Anyway, her moveset consists of various yoga poses and stuff inspired by exercises from the Wii Fit games, and her Final Smash, "Wii Fit," has her summon silhouettes of yoga poses to attack the enemy. Overall, while her introduction is very tongue-in-cheek, I have to say the Trainer is a welcome addition to this game just from her trailer.

So yeah, as new stages and characters for Smash Bros. 4 are announced, I'll be here, updating on the new stuff that is known. I'll do another post soon detailing the Animal Crossing Villager, Megaman, and what we know of the new stages. If you want more immediate updates, make sure to visit the Super Smash Bros. website, or, if you have a Wii U, the Smash Bros. Series Miiverse Community, where Sakurai will be updating about 5 times a week.

E3 2013: My Reactions

Well, another E3 is coming by. And by god, this one does not disappoint. I mean, if you're looking at the image to the left of this paragraph, you should know what the highlight of the event was for me already, and I bet you want to know all of what I have to say. Well, you'll have to read on to find out.

So, I'm just going to summarize what I thought of the stuff I actually gave a shit about that was actually shown and given online coverage. I'm going to update this as E3 goes along, so this post will take a few days to fully complete. Anyway, here goes.

6/06/2013

Project X Zone Demo A

Okay, yeah, I know I'm a week late with this shit. SORRY, ALRIGHT?! I HAVE A FUCKING LIFE! Anyway, yeah, so Project X Zone certainly is... something. It's a crossover between Sega, Capcom, and Namco Bandai, combining most of their most popular franchises (as long as they have anime-esque art styles, for some reason >_<) into a massive epic adventure to... I dunno, find out if rainbows really do taste like Skittles? Some shit like that. Anyway, it was released toward the end of last year in Japan, and after much petitioning and even the lead Tekken/Soul Calibur developer, Katsuhiro Harada, trying to get it localized, PXZ is coming out worldwide! While it may not have any dubbing in other languages, at least we're getting it!

Of course, the demo was just released to hype us up more and give us a taste of the game if we were previously unable, but that's enough for me. Keep in mind a few things right now: #1: Of all the series' represented in this game, I'm only really familiar with Street Fighter, Tekken, Megaman, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Darkstalkers, and Ghosts 'n' Goblins characters, so please excuse any ignorance of the other franchises; and #2: I've only just played the demo yesterday. So yeah, let's get started here.

HBM's Top 10 Video Game Assholes

So, you know how there are different types of video game characters? From the stoic badass, to the hot-blooded kid, to the mysterious hot chick? Well, there's one type of character that's persisted through all forms of media: the asshole. You know, the guy who just wants things his way, doesn't give a damn about anything else, and is just plain unpleasant?* Well, I'm going to list the top 10 video game assholes here! Be aware of spoilers, and only video games that I've played. Now let's get rolling.

5/31/2013

Bleach Recaps Eps. 296-299: BECAUSE FILLER'S COOL, RITE GAIZ?!

Okay, we're back to this now. It's been another month so I have to do a recap. Otherwise the FBI will come and take away all the cookies.

ALL THE FUCKING COOKIES.

So yeah, let's start.

5/21/2013

Random update out of nowhere

I dunno, I'm bored and I want to post something.

So, video game stuff. I just got Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee (thank you Game Grumps), and it's pretty cheap, but also fucking awesome. I'm trying to get trophies from Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi and Raging Blast 2, which at the moment, is pretty hard because the only trophies I have left to get are fairly tedious. I'm waiting on whatever games I have preordered at the moment, and MGR DLC, if it's still coming.

When it comes to anime/manga, not much to say. We know what's up with Bleach right now. The Naruto manga is actually fairly good, especially compared to the shitty-ass anime. The Soul Eater manga keeps getting creepier every chapter (FUCK, CRONA, WHY WITH THE MUPPET FACES AND LAWD NO). I should be getting Bleach Hell Verse any time soon. And I'm still waiting on news for the new Dragon Ball Z movie.

Random side note: THIS FUCKING VIDEO YOU GUYS

Going to New York this weekend. May not update from then till I get back. Whatever.

HBM Signing Out.

My Thoughts on the Bleach Manga... Again

So yeah, a while ago, I mentioned that I'd put up another post of my thoughts of the Bleach manga at some point. Well, here it is, I wanted to wait until Isshin's story about Masaki was finished. So... yeah, let's pick up where we left off. Remember, this is Bleach, so SPOILERS.

5/15/2013

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance: Bladewolf DLC

So hey, here we are again, talking about Metal Gear Rising DLC. And this time, it's more unique, because rather than playing as a humanoid, this chapter has you play as LQ-84i (a.k.a. Bladewolf)! Is the canine robot's chapter as good as, if not better than the Jetstream chapter? Well, read on to find out!

HBM's Top Ten Video Game Soundtracks

In my opinion, no game is complete without music. If there's no music, there's barely any atmosphere. But when there is music, and it works, the game just becomes even greater. So I'm going to count down the top ten best video game soundtracks today. Remember, this is all just my opinion, and you don't have to agree. Just like I don't have to make my agents not shoot you in the foot a few dozen times. Also, only games I've actually played.

5/06/2013

Future Marvel Movies

Well, Iron Man 3 hit theaters last Friday, and I just saw it. It met my expectations perfectly, and is basically on par with the first Iron Man. But with the successes that the Marvel movies have had for the past 5 or so years, I can't help but wonder when that's going to end. However, I'm going to try to be positive and see what new wonders the future of the Marvel movies will give us.

They've announced a huge chunk of movies that will be coming out in rapid succession up until 2015, Most of which are sequels; Thor: The Dark World, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Avengers 2. There are some other movies coming among those, with Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant Man. I'm sure they'll all be financial successes, especially with some of the info revealed about them as of late, but I can't help but wonder, what will come after?

Bleach Recap: Eps. 292 - 295: Showers of Blood

So hey, we're back to this again. Y'know, this "once a month" thing is actually a lot easier on me. I can keep my creative juices flowing and not have to worry about getting this done on time; only at the end of the month! Anyway, let's get right to it.

4/24/2013

Looking Back On: Homestar Runner

Hello, everypeoples, and welcome to another entry in my Looking Back On series. This time, I'm going to do something not completely video game related, but it still shaped my childhood and molded me into who I am today in a huge way. I am talking, of course, about the greatest web cartoon ever: Homestar Runner.

4/22/2013

HBM Reviews: Injustice: Gods Among Us

Sorry this review is late, I pre-ordered from Walmart. Now I know never to do that again for any reason ever. Anyway, time to review the new DC/NetherRealm Studio masterpiece; Injustice: Gods Among Us. I'm going by the PS3 version, so keep that in mind when I talk about controls.

4/17/2013

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance: Jetstream DLC

You guys remember Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, the newest (and possibly best) Metal Gear game from February? Well, some DLC has been released, and I'm giving my thoughts on it. Spoilers ahead, by the way.

Stuff I Want To See At E3 2013

We still have a couple months until E3, right? Well, I still don't know what's going to be shown there! So I'm going to list some stuff I want to see from there this year. Here we go!

4/12/2013

HBM's Top Ten First Bosses

How are you all doing today? That's good, that's good. Let's talk about video games now.

So, usually the beginning of a game is a great time to establish the gameplay and style of the game. And what better way to establish a great game than to give it a great first boss?

Once again, it's all games I've played, only one per series, and all my opinion (which is supreme anyway, so you're guaranteeing eternal damnation if you disagree).

4/02/2013

My Thoughts on the Injustice: Gods Among Us Demo

This is what we've been waiting for, you guys. A chance to play even a small taste of the new DC fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among US, in our own homes. The demo was released just a few hours ago, and I'm here to give my thoughts on it. I'm going by the PS3 version's control scheme, for those of you Xbox 360 players and Wii U people out there.

This demo is very similar to the MK9 demo from 2011, which makes sense, since both of these games were made by NetherRealm Studios. Also, some of the sound effects during combat and in the menus were actually taken straight from MK9 itself. Weird, huh?

4/01/2013

Bleach Eps 289-291: Marching Along

Oh fuck, I have a blog?! When did this shit happen?!

Yeah, I'm back and shit. Spring break kind of happened. Nothing much interesting happened, other than me buying and beating the original NES Ninja Gaiden within a couple days, and finally seeing the Scott Pilgrim movie and downloading the game. So yeah, nothing much... wait a minute...

So it's time to do this shit again. For recaps of the episodes prior to this, see my Huge Bleach Recap post.

3/18/2013

HBM Reviews: God of War: Ascension

Well, this is the game we've been waiting for, the next chapter in the God of War series. And even better, it's on the PS3 again! So how could this game not be one of the best PS3 games?

3/13/2013

HBM's Top 10 Video Game Badasses

Hey guys. You like games right? And you like awesome moments in games? How about the guys who are basically walking awesome moments? Well, whether you do or not, these are the top 10 of those guys, the video game badasses. Just remember that it's my list, so anyone Only one per series, as usual. Spoilers, too.

3/12/2013

Huge Bleach Recap: Eps. 283 - 288

Okay, sorry I haven't been able to recap lately. But hey, Rising and shit. So, now that I'm finally caught up on the episodes I've missed, I can recap them, so let's not waste any more time.

3/05/2013

HBM's Top 10 Underrated Video Games

Hey there, everypeople. Sorry I haven't updated in a while, it's just... y'know... Metal Gear Rising. Once I finally get around to watching the new Bleach episodes, I'll recap them all in one big post.

Anyway, have you ever felt that some video games don't get quite as much praise as you think they should have? Because I do, all the fuckin' time. So I'm gonna count down my Top 10 of them here today. Just like always, this list is subject to change at anytime. Okay, here we go.

2/21/2013

HBM Reviews: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

"I think it's time for Jack... to LET 'ER RIP!!"
Well, here it is, you guys. The game we've been waiting for since about 2010. There were some hiccups during development, but we waited, and our patience has been rewarded. This game is so fucking awesome! However, did it meet expectations?

2/01/2013

Bleach Recaps Episode 282: WHAT WAS THE POINT?!

Okay, we're finally back to Bleach. Honestly, I can't believe how retarded adult swim/Toonami decided to be those few weeks. What the fuck was the point of this break?! IN JAPAN IT'S ALREADY OVER YOU FUCKING RETARDS! What, did Johnny Yong Bosch have a strike because Ichigo wasn't showing up enough?! GIVE. US. A. FUCKING. EXPLANATION!

Anyway, onto the recap...

HBM Reviews: Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?

Hey peeps. Like many people, I'm a big fan of Adventure Time, even though I'm clearly older than the target demographic. So I was pretty psyched when I heard there was an Adventure Time game coming to the DS and 3DS. I got the 3DS version, but as far as I know there are no differences other than the 3D feature and some music. Okay, let's get to this.

1/25/2013

This Year's Birthday Stuff

Well, my birthday was uneventful this year. I didn't end up getting much. I got $150, and I used it to get Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition, Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?, preordered God of War: Ascension, and ordered Conker's Bad Fur Day online. I should have that by January 30th at the soonest. Okay, HBM Signing Out.

1/23/2013

My Thoughts on the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Demo

Happy birthday to me! Yup, I'm finally 17 years old. I still can't legally drink, vote, or purchase porn, but at least I can get M-rated games and see R-rated movies without my parents' permission now (as long as I have ID)!

Thankfully, it would seem that either Kojima Productions, Konami, or Platinum Games were somehow aware of this, and decided that last night, they would release a demo for the upcoming Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance onto XBoxLive and PlayStation Store. And as just a demo, it was not a disappointment.

1/22/2013

HBM's Top 10 Weirdest Moments in Video Games

You know, I can be pretty strange sometimes (considering I have minor ADD, this isn't surprising) . But there are times when video games manage to actually make ME go "What the fuck did I just witness?!" And I'm going to detail the top 10 of those moments today!

Now, I'm going to have to slightly bend the rules here by including games I haven't played and have only seen videos of, but they're just SO DAMN WEIRD that they need to be on this list!

1/18/2013

HBM's Top 10 Games of 2012

Hey guys. 2012 wasn't exactly a great year for video games, was it? Unlike the awesomeness that was 2011's games, this year was just... mediocre, overall. Of course, that won't stop me from listing my favorite 10 games of the year! Keep in mind, this list is subject to change at any time, but some will probably stay on the list forever. Now, let's not waste anymore time and get to it!

Obviously, I'm only going with games I've actually played, so if you don't see a game you enjoyed from this year, either I didn't play it, or it wasn't good enough to be in the Top 10. Also, I'm going to be disregarding Collections/Compilations, so unfortunately, no God of War Saga, inFAMOUS Collection, or Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection. :(

1/01/2013

This Year's Christmas Stuff

Hey guys. What's up with you. So, I celebrate a holiday sometimes. I get stuff during this holiday. And this is what I got this year for this holiday.

Disregarding the pointless shit that you don't care about, I got Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection, inFAMOUS Collection, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Devil May Cry HD Collection, and $290 which I used to buy a Deluxe Wii U with Nintendo Land (I'll be using my birthday money to pay my parents back for that one). Okay, see you guys later and shit.
