HBM's Top Ten PS3 Games

The PS4 is coming out at the end of the week, but it's still going to be a while until the PS3 croaks. Even so, I think it's time to list what I feel are the 10 best games on the system. Of course, no HD remakes, collections, etc.

#10: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

The Uncharted series really is great. Even the one I enjoyed the least, Uncharted 3, gets a spot on this list! It still has the well known Uncharted gameplay, the graphics are some of the best on the PS3, and the story is spot on. But for whatever reason, this one just feels inferior to the other two. Whatever, still good enough to get on a Top Ten list.

#9: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Okay, I know this game gets quite a bit of flak, but hear me out. If you ignore the story and focus entirely on the gameplay and acting, this game is pretty damn awesome. Hell, it would have gotten higher, if they hadn't suddenly shut down the Metal Gear Online servers a couple years too early. Even so, I love MGS4, and more people need to.

#8: Batman: Arkham Asylum

What really needs to be said about Arkham Asylum at this point? It helped pave the way for more superhero games to become true masterpieces, has some great, intuitive gameplay, lots of Batman mythology references, and it's with a hero who has no actual superpower! Batman was already badass enough before this game, and now, gamers are more aware of the fact.

#7: The Last of Us

While the Uncharted series was gaining massie critical acclaim, Naughty Dog was also working on a brand new zombie game, and it was released as The Last of Us. It's basically like an Uncharted game, but with zombies! Also, the game may basically be just one long escort mission, but the game makes it fine, because the character you're escorting, Ellie, is really fleshed out and you grow to love her over the course of the game. Really, at this point, what is there to say about The Last of Us that hasn;t been said?

#6: God of War 3

The God of War series has always been awesome, and this fact is no more apparent than in GoW3. The graphics are some of the best on the PS3, the gameplay is better than ever, it wraps up the trilogy really well, and has fantastic performances from it's voice cast. Really, what more could you want from a game like this?

#5: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

The game that started it all for Nathan Drake, this game is a true masterpiece. It displayed impressive graphics for the time, and is one of the only games I would dare call a true work of art. A perfect introduction to a stellar game series.

#4: Mortal Kombat (2011)

I remember when I wasn't even into Mortal Kombat at all. But then I saw the trailers for this game and was hooked. Then I got the game, and it didn't disappoint. A large variety of game modes, plenty of over-the-top violence, great gameplay, and a cool playable roster. I just love this game.

#3: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Yup, the entire trilogy is on this list! Uncharted 2 just got it all right: Story, gameplay, acting, etc. If there was a problem with the original Uncharted, Uncharted 2 fixed it. It was even able to improve on the already impressive graphics of it's predecessor! Uncharted 2 is a true masterpiece...

#2: Batman: Arkham City

Just like Uncharted 2 did to Uncharted 1, Arkham City took everything great about Arkham Asylum and improved on it. The world is larger, the graphics are greater, everything is just overall better. I can only think of one PS3 game that I enjoy more...

#1: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

I'll admit it; Metal Gear Rising is probably more flawed than most of the games on this list. But it's my list, so fuck you. Anyway, I just can't get enough of this game. It's insanely cathartic, chopping all those cyborgs and robots into nothing, and with the awesome music blasting away, it's just made even more awesome. Also, awesome controls and boss battles. Once again, my list, fuck you.

Well, that's all for now. I'll see you sometime later this week maybe?

HBM signing out!

P.S. Unrelated, but Marth was recently revealed for Smash Bros. They just need to get to the newcomers already...
