|"Enjoy your power"|
The story takes place 7 years after the events of the Good Karma storyline from inFAMOUS 2. After witnessing the destruction caused by the battle between Cole Macgrath and The Beast, the government forms a new army division called the Department of Unified Protection (DUP) to detain Conduits (now referred to as Bio-terrorists) before they can become threats. One day, in a village on the edge of Seattle, a young man named Delsin Rowe witnesses a DUP truck crash where three Conduits escape, and he comes into physical contact with one of them absorbing his smoke-based powers. It turns out Delsin is a Conduit whose power is absorbing the powers of Conduits he touched. Delsin has to then travel to Seattle with his brother, Reggie, to take down the DUP and save his village.
Similar to the previous games in the series, you can influence the chain of events in the game with your Karma, which can be influenced to the Good Side (Subduing enemies, healing the wounded, etc) or the Evil Side (Killing enemies and civilians, etc). The controls are slightly altered to allow for quicker and more diversified combat. The powers that you gain throughout the game are smoke (faster, more close range), neon (long range, better for quick takedowns), video (rapid fire, strong melee), and concrete (powerful and fast). You can expand your powers further by finding and using Blast Shards, which were previously just collectibles.
There are more kinds of side quests throughout this game. You can find and expose secret DUP agents, find audio logs from a DUP traitor, make graffiti art on walls, and take down hidden security cameras. There's even a sidequest that requires you to make an account on a separate website (which doesn't seem to work properly, though that could just be me). You'll have a lot to do if you want to get 100% in this game.
In short, inFAMOUS: Second Son, is about probably the best inFAMOUS game so far, though just by a little bit. I don't know if I'd say it's the best game of the year so far, but it's definitely a lot of fun.
