Well, there was a Nintendo Direct today, and... it was disappointing. It didn't say a whole lot we didn't already know, due to a leak yesterday, and otherwise, there was very little of interest. However, I will go over the stuff that I paid attention to, in order.
New Fire Emblem (3DS): There's a new Fire Emblem coming to 3DS. It seems to share the same graphic styles as Awakening, and... that's really all we know. It looks like Awakening, and apparently the choices will matter a bit more in this one. Coming sometime in the future.
Puzzle & Dragons Z, Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros Edition, and Pokemon Shuffle (3DS): These seem to be Puzzle RPGs, where you solve puzzles on the lower screen to defeat enemies on the top screen, and you can recruit more party members to deal more damage. The first two will be sold as one game, while the second will be free on Nintendo eShop, but will function like an iPhone game. So... yeah. Coming February.
Wii Games on Wii U: So, soon we'll be able to download Wii games on our Wii U. The only confirmed titles so far are Super Mario Galaxy 2, Punch-Out, and Metroid Prime Trilogy this month (all games I already own... >_<), with more coming in the future. I can't help but notice they're skipping over Gamecube, especially considering THE GAMECUBE CONTROLLER ADAPTER. Whatever, this is pretty cool.
Splatoon (Wii U): They have now shown the hub world, where you can access the multiplayer mode, and the Weapon and Clothes stores. It turns out you can have 3 weapons at a time, and the clothes affect your stats. So that's pretty cool. Coming May.
Hyrule Warriors Majora's Mask DLC: Oh my god, this was a major letdown. So, instead of the 2 playable characters being people I wanted to play as, like Skull Kid and Happy Mask Salesman, we instead get Young Link and... *shudder* ...Tingle... I mean, Young Link is fine because he has the Fierce Diety Mask (which should have just been an alt for Link anyway), but... fucking TINGLE?!?! Why can't we just eradicate this fucking thing from existence?! ...Anyway, the 3 alternate costumes were silhouetted, but seem to be Ocarina of Time Shiek, Ocarina of Time Impa, and a Skull Kid outfit for... I think Ghirahim? Once again, a massive fucking letdown. Coming February 5.
Project Treasure (Wii U): This is an upcoming game from Namco Bandai. It will feature up to 4 player co-op play, and trying to find treasures. The name and release date are unknown at this point, but I'm down for this, it seems cool.
New Nintendo 3DS: The final half of this Direct is basically dedicated to the New 3DS. Well, New 3DS XL, since we're not getting the just plain New 3DS here in the states. Anyway, it has a little C-stick thingy, Z buttons, improved CPU, amiibo functonality, better 3D, and exclusives (only a port of Xenoblade Chronicles at the moment). I basically have no reason to get this until they announce an exclusive that's worth it. Coming February 13.
CodeName STEAM (3DS): Due to the New 3DS's amiibo support, you can use amiibos of Fire Emblem characters with this game to add them to your party. So that's cool. Also, when you preorder, you get... a Majora's Mask pin. ...WAT. Coming March 13.
IronFall Invasion (3DS): The only indie game of all the ones shown that grabbed my attention. It's an over-the-shoulder shooter... on the 3DS. Good enough for me.
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D: Really, we know all we need to now. It's coming February 13, same day as the New 3DS, so there'll be a Majora's Mask New 3DS with this already installed. Makes sense to me.
Anyway, that's the Direct. This was definitely one of the weaker Directs, I think. There wasn't even any updates on the Smash Mewtwo DLC, Star Fox U, or Zelda U, which are all supposedly coming this year. Come on, Nintendo, get your shit together.
HBM, signing out.
