Yeah, it's been a while since I posted. I'm finally back, and I'm going to be working on my E3 post throughout the week. But for now, we're going over the Super Smash Bros Presentation (Nintendo Direct Mini, kinda) that was released yesterday, detailing the DLC that was released today.
Now, most of this was leaked the day prior, so most of it wasn't a surprise, however, there were stille some shocking things revealed.
So, it starts off with a character trailer for someone very familiar to fans of Super Smash Bros Melee: Roy, from Fire Emblem! He now fights with a reverse grip on his sword, but otherwise, is pretty muh the same as in Melee. His vocals have been completely re-recorded by his voice actor, Jun Fukuyama, and his Final Smash is a more close-range version of Marth's Critical Hit.
Of course, we can't forget that Lucas was also released today. He plays almost the same as in Brawl, just with a little more power, slightly changed attacks, and his Final Smash has been altered, just like Ness's.
We also got 2 new stages today: Dream Land from the original Smash Bros, and Miiverse! Dream Land is available on both versions, but Miiverse is Wii U only. It allows you to post messages for specific characters on a specific Miiverse board, and they'll show up when that character is on a fight on the Miiverse stage. Miiverse comes free with the update that went live today. We've also got confirmation of 2 upcoming stages: Hyrule Castle and Peach's Castle, both from the original Smash Bros
We also got a bunch of Mii costumes based on: Isabelle from Animal Crossing, Megaman.EXE from Megaman Battle Network, Zero from Megaman X, Inklings and a Squid Hat from Splatoon, Akira and Jacky from Virtua Fighter, and Heihachi from Tekken.
We also got the announcement of amiibo for the DLC characters, Mii Fighters, and the last fighters that haven't gotten them yet. Plus, online tournaments are coming in August, and sharing uploads on Youtube will be available in a future update,
Finally, we got one more character announcement: Ryu from Street Fighter! He plays very much like in the Street Fighter games, with his attacks changing depending on whether you tap or hold the button. His special attacks are Hadoken, Tatsumaki Senpukyaku, Shoryuken, and Focus Attack. For the former three, you can actually perform the original button combinations to perform more powerful versions of the attacks. Ryu actually has 2 Final Smashes depending on distance: If he's far from opponents, he uses Shinku Hadoken, and if he's up close, he performs Shin Shoryuken.
And, of course, Ryu comes with his own stage! It's Suzaku Castle, based on his stage from Street Fighter II, it's available for both games, and the stage music is various versions of Ryu's Theme and Ken's Theme.
And finally, with this update, we get 2 free trophies: Ken from Street Fighter and Inkling from Splatoon.
All of this is available is on the Nintendo eShop, either seperately, or in bundles for just one version, and for both. So, supposedly, there will be no new Smash Bros news during E3.
I'll see you with my E3 post, which I'll be updating over the course of the week.
