Well, another week has passed, so it's time for me to cover recent video game news. However, unlike last week, I'm not talking about games I've recently been playing, because the only ones I have been playing have been covered in previous posts. So if I'm playing a game covered in a previous post, that's exempt from being featured in these posts. Anyway, onto the news.
Nintendo: Nintendo has finally announced who their new president is: Tatsumi Kimishima. Previously working as president of Nintendo of America from 2002 to 2006, Kimishima is more strictly a businessman than Iwata was. We can only hope this is a good thing for the company. Nintendo has also confirmed that Nintendo DIrects will be continuing, so I'm hoping we get to see one shortly.
Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS: We've finally got some new DLC news (the last bit of DLC we got was 2 new stages, a batch of costumes, and Youtube uploading a month or so back). A new stage will be coming, based on Super Mario Maker, on September 30th. Basically, the stage will have a different layout each time you play it, it has the four styles that the game does, and at the beginning of the match, a hand creates the stage, just like the game. The hand will even repair broken bricks from time to time. I can only hope we get a bit more with this stage, but we'll have to wait and see. I'll be covering the full update when it's released.
Kingdom Hearts HD II.8: Final Chapter Prologue: I bet you thought we were done with Kingdom Hearts releases until KH3 (other than Unchained X, that iPhone game). Well, Square still wants to give us more weirdly named titles, so we have this. It contains Kingdom Hearts 3D, a movie relating to Unchained X called Unchained X: Back Door, and a sequel to Birth by Sleep, with KH3 graphics, called Birth by Sleep 0.2: A Fragmentary Passage, which will tell the tale of Aqua after the events of BbS. It'll be coming to PS4 next year.
Gravity Rush Remastered + Gravity Rush 2: So, the most interesting game on the PSVita is Gravity Rush, which has great cel-shaded graphics and weird gravity styled gameplay. Now it's coming to PS4... and everyone has lost all reason to get a PSVita. It's also getting a sequel, exclusive to PS4, and both come out next year.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven: Now, part 6 characters have been confirmed. Jolyne Kujo, Hermes Costello, and Enrico Pucci have been confirmed to return, and a new character, Weather Report, is coming. From what I've read, he has control over the weather, which could be cool to play with. Also, there's going to be a new trailer dropping tonight, so hopefully, it'll confirm an international release.
Project X Zone 2: The US release date has been confirmed as February 16, which is good. We also got some more character confirmations. Returning is Kos-Mos from Xenosaga, but we also shockingly got some Nintendo characters! Teamed up with Kos-Mos is Fiora from Xenoblade, and another new team is Chrom and Lucina, from Fire Emblem Awakening! This opens up the door for new possibilities of new Nintendo characters, and I love it!
Street Fighter V: We got another character reveal already: Karin from Street Fighter Alpha 3. I haven't played that one, but from what I saw in the trailer, she looks pretty cool. A more realistic fighter, with more martial-arts types moves, and I'm cool with that.
Ace Attorney Anime: Yes, an Ace Attorney Anime has been confirmed! It'll start airing in Japan in April. So far, nothing has been confirmed, except Phoenix Wright, Maya Fey, and Miles Edgeworth will be in it, but I'm gonna guess it'll be kinda like an expansion on the games, with trials taking multiple episodes. I know I'll be following it.
Ace Attorney 6: Speaking of Ace Attorney, the 6th main game was confirmed a while ago, with international release confirmed at the same time. Now we have a trailer. This time, Phoenix Wright is traveling to a foreign country, which seems to have Chinese or Indian inspiration. It'll use new mechanics, like a mirror that shows the last sights of murder victims. Apollo Justice is confirmed to make an appearance, and it'll have the same graphical style as Ace Attorney 5. It looks pretty cool, though I still have to play AA5.
Metal Gear Solid V: DLC costumes have been confirmed. Male characters can wear a tuxedo, a new sneaking suit, and jungle-themed fatigues. Females can wear outfits based on EVA and The Boss in MGS3, and the D-Horse can get 2 costumes, one of which gives him a mohawk. It's pretty cool, though whether we'll get these in packs, and their release dates, are unknown.
Star Fox Zero: It's been delayed to next year. That's pretty much it.
So, that's all the news from this week that I care about. More posts coming soon.
