HBM News: 11/29/15-12/5/15

Another week, another batch of news. We got a pretty decent chunk of news this week, and the Game Awards were held... though they were a bust. Anyway, onto this week's news.

WB Games Montreal: The team behind the Wii U port of Batman Arkham City, and Batman Arkham Origins, is hiring for teams to make 2 more games, based on DC properties. Hopefully they'll tie in to the Arkham series and make a whole DC games universe with these, we'll just have to wait and see.

Platinum Games: The team behind Bayonetta, The Wonderful 101, and Metal Gear Rising, is working on a brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game: called Mutants in Manhattan. Not much else to say about that.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End: 2 trailers aired this week: One at the Game Awards, and one at a Playstation conference. The Game Awards trailer introduced a new character: a black woman named Nadine Ross, voiced by Laura Bailey, who fights Nate in a library. The trailer from the Playstation conference shows Nate being re-introduced to his older brother Sam, who had supposedly died sometime in the past, as well as the introduction of branching dialogue, which appears in certain cutscenes. So, at least in that respect, it looks like Uncharted 4 might have some differences gameplay-wise.

Nate looks high as fuck tho
Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn: This is a game that's been in development for a while, a sequel to the much hated Shaq Fu. The first trailer was released at the Game Awards... and half of it is just a lead-in to an unfunny punchline. From the bits of gameplay we see, it looks like the game will be an arcade-style beat-em-up, where you play as a buffed-up Shaquille O'Neal. The team is at least trying to make the game better than the original, so that's good. We don't have a release date yet, though I'd suspect either late 2016 or early 2017. EDIT: It's 2016.

Telltale Games: A team behind Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, Back To the Future: The Video Game, and Poker Night at the Inventory, is making a Batman game now, coming 2016. Considering their previous line of games, we can expect it to be a point-n-click adventure, mostly puzzle-solving and stuff like that.

Mortal Kombat X: The characters being released as part of Kombat Pack 2 have finally been revealed: Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Bo'Rai Cho from Deadly Alliance, a new cyborg with Sektor and Cyrax's abilites named Tri-Borg, and a Xenomorph from Alien, with Tarkatan traits. Kombat Pack 2 comes out in 2016.

Final Fantasy VII Remake: We finally got another trailer for the remake of FFVII, showing scenes from early in the game, with AVALANCHE infiltrating the Mako reactor and Cloud and Barret (wearing some cool shades) facing off against the Guard Scorpion and Shinra soldiers. We also finally got a look at the gameplay, with full exploration of the game's environments in 3D, and the gameplay being reminiscent of the Kingdom Hearts games. To be honest, considering Advent Children, this is probably for the best. I know I'm more excited because of this.

Looking stylish, guys!
Street Fighter V:So, F.A.N.G. has finally been revealed, and he's... a tall, thin, weird mad scientist that fights with kicks, feints, and poison. To be honest... I don't like him. His design clashes with the overall aesthetic of the game. Whatever, most of the rest of the characters are cool, so one or two "eh" characters isn't bad. Also, the Season Pass for 2016 is available for pre-order on PS4, officially revealing the 6 DLC characters of the year.

Nintendo: There's going to be some big announcement on Monday by Nintendo. They haven't said what it's about, but thankfully, we don't have long to wait.

So, that's the news for the week. Hopefully we'll learn when the Smash Bros broadcast is this week.

HBM, signing out.
