Super Smash Bros for Wii U & 3DS Final Presentation: 12/15/15

So, the final news update for Super Smash Bros for Wii U & 3DS went up today, and while we may not have gotten as much news as we were anticipating, we did get quite a bit of hype from what was announced. I'll go over everything in order of what was shown.
First off, we got a trailer for a new character: Corrin from Fire Emblem Fates. Just like Robin and Wii Fit Trainer, you can play as male and female versions. Corrin uses a chainsaw-blade called Omega Yato, can transform into a dragon for certain attacks, has a tipper on his/her side-smash, and his/her Final Smash has him/her summon a torrent of water to wash enemies away. When you purchase Corrin, you also get 2 songs from FE Fates added to both Coliseum and Castle Siege on the Wii U version, while the 3DS version gets trophies of Ryoma and Xander from FE Fates. Corrin will be available for purchase in February 2016. To be honest, I'm not all that excited for Corrin, since I haven't been following the Fire Emblem news lately, though they look unique enough that I'm still looking forward to playing as them.

CORRIN ON THE COB (ORIGINAL JOKE)
We also got some more info on how Cloud plays. His Limit break gauge fills up as he takes/receives damage, and powers up all of Cloud's stats while it's active, and gives his special attacks better properties. You can charge the gauge with Cloud's down-special, which changes into Finishing Touch; basically a one-hit kill. The Midgar stage has summon Materia appear from time to time, and the person that grabs it is immune to the summon's damage, with any kills the summons get being attributed to who summoned them. He's available right now for purchase.

We're also getting some Mii costumes: Today we get a Chocobo Mii Headgear, and a Geno outfit for Gunners, from Super Mario RPG. We're also getting more outfits in February: A Bionic Armor suit for all types, Takamaru (Mysterious Murasame Castle), Ashley (WarioWare), and Gil (Tower of Druaga) swordfighter outfits, a Tails suit for Gunners, and a Knuckles suit for Brawlers.

I can taste the salt from here...
As for the winner of the Smash Ballot winner... I thought it would be Wolf, Snake, Banjo-Kazooie, or maybe even Sora... but I was completely wrong... it was Bayonetta. I'm not complaining, her games are fucking awesome. Anyway, she has bother her Bayonetta 1 and 2 outfits, uses long combos for all her attacks, can fire her guns mid-combo by holding the button, she has Wicked Weave attacks, a Witch Time counterattack., and... a super-long, cancellable dance taunt. Obviously, they censored her a bit, more of her bod is covered when she performs Wicked Weaves, and she can't curse. She has a color based on Jeanne, her Final Smash has her fill up a gauge to summon the demon Gammorah to devour enemies, and she comes with trophies of Jeanne, Rodin, and Cereza, as well as her own stage; Umbran Clock Tower, based on the falling clock tower from the beginning of the first game. Overall, she looks extremely faithful to the original games, and I'm more hyped for Bayonetta than Corrin.

Commence the fapping.
And finally, there's amiibo news. Roy, Ryu, and ROB with Famicom colors all have amiibo coming out on March 18th, 2016. And, of course, Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta have their own amiibo coming at some point.

Overall, this direct was slightly disappointing. While I am happy that I was surprised by the new characters and stage, I do wish we got a new Zelda character rather than Corrin, and I kinda wish we also got Wolf or Snake back. Even so, with these new additions, we have almost 60 characters, over 80 stages across both versions, almost 200 Mii Outfits (headgear included), and over 500 songs total. Considering this sheer amount of content. I don't think we have the right to complain about what could have been, or what should be. For over a year after the release of Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS, Sakurai's team has been hard at work making even more content for these already amazing games, all for the fans, and frankly, they've been doing an absolutely amazing job living up to our expectations. For all their work, everyone on the Smash team deserves a nice long break once this upcoming content is all done.

HBM, signing out.
